Malvern, Pa. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has developed a new 2-watt, surface-mount Power Metal Strip resistor with a low resistance value range of 10 milliohms to 100 milliohms and a tight 1% tolerance. The new Vishay Dale WSL2816 is designed for current sensing, voltage division, and pulse applications such as motor controls and dc/dc converters in automotive, consumer, and industrial systems.
The low resistance value allows system designers to maximize available board space by using a single resistor instead of multiple higher-value resistors in parallel, or by replacing larger low-value resistors with a smaller 2816 footprint. Designers can also use lower-cost ICs because of the current-sensing accuracy provided by the tight tolerance, low resistance and low RTC of resistance element (<20 ppm/°C), said the company.
The WSL2816 resistor features an all-welded construction with a solid metal nickel-chrome alloy resistive element and solderable terminations. It is designed to operate in a temperature range of -65°C to 170°C.
Pricing for the WSL2816 resistor for U.S. delivery starts at $0.32 each in quantities of 10,000. Samples and production quantities are available now, with a lead time of four to six weeks for larger orders.
