Munich, Germany Infineon Technologies AG introduced TUA6041 and TUA6045, tuner ICs optimized for performance and low power for portable applications such as laptops, USB dongles and PDAs. The company reports that the ICs are the industry’s first single conversion tuners operating at a supply voltage as low as +3VDC, halving their power consumption and heat dissipation. The TUA6041 and TUA6045 integrate the RF and IF functions in a single chip, leading to a 49mm2 footprint.
Operating at a supply voltage from 5.5V to as low as 3VDC, the tuners can be adjusted depending on an application's power requirements. The devices also feature a stand-by mode. A selectable narrow or wide band Automatic Gain Control (AGC) improves reception quality. In addition to manual alignment, the TUA6041 features automatic digital alignment by the means of software during basic set-up in the production process.
Samples of the TUA6041 and TUA6045 are available now. Volume production is planned for the end of 2005.
