Dallas—Texas Instruments' DCP010507DB, a 1-watt DC/DC converter, delivers a dual ±7-volt output that's suited to powering basic data acquisition systems, test and measurement equipment with sensors that require isolation, and motor controllers.
In a typical application, the (isolated) converter provides an unregulated +7 volts to a (low noise) linear regulator for general digital circuitry as well as providing the negative bias (-7V) needed for op amps. The module, which works from a 5-volt input, can also be configured as a single-output 14-volt DC/DC converter. It can be synchronized with like devices for multiple converter applications.
The converter has an efficiency of up to 85 percent. It meets UL1950 and EN55022 Class B EMC specifications. The module is rated for operation over -40 to +100°C. It features both thermal shutdown and short-circuit protection.
