Raleigh, N.C. Stackpole Electronics, Inc. has introduced a new surface-mount, wirewound, shielded inductor that enables easy surface mounting in close proximity to other components on the assembly board.
The new PS series inductors offer a wide range of inductance values ranging from 1.0 microhenry (μH) to 10,000 μH with current ratings from 1,000 milliamps (mA) to 20 mA. Standard tolerance is ±20% with ±10% available.
The PS series is available in three sizes: 6.6 x 4.45 x 2.92 mm, 12.95 x 9.4 x 5.08 mm, and 18.54 x 15.24 x 7.62 mm). The inductor, which features a ferrite construction with a magnetic shield, is rated for an operating temperature range of- 40°C to 85°C. The lead-free and RoHS compliant series is suitable for reflow soldering.
In addition to shielding that enables manufacture of compact end-products, the new inductor features excellent solderability and resistance to soldering heat, according to the company, and as a result, designers can integrate greater functionality on available board space without compromising the overall performance and reliability of the end product.
These new inductors are designed for use in medium to low-frequency resonant circuits for higher-current applications in notebook computers, PCs, flash memory devices, converters, and other electronic systems.
Provided in tape and reel packaging, the PS1608 size is typically priced at $0.25 each and the PS3316 and PS5022 case sizes are priced at approximately $0.35 each. Delivery is six weeks.
