Melville, NY—PowerDsine's 6500 PoE Midspan series is reportedly the first to offer advanced secured network management and the only midspan to ship with a lifetime warranty.
"The 6500 PoE Midspan family provides enterprises a new level of security with this advanced remote management solution," said Igal Rotem, CEO. The 6500 model, for enterprises deploying IP phones, wireless LAN access points and IP surveillance cameras,
will be available in 6-, 12-, 24- and 48-port versions. It offers the company's Network Management System (NMS), called PowerView Pro. This system provides SNMPv3 remote management with encrypted data transmission. The midspan also offers web-based management from any PC in the network, supporting advanced authentication and encryption algorithms (MD5 and DES).
The 24-port midspan (PowerDsine 6524) will ship with two alternative power supplies: Full-power (400 watts) and managed power (200 watts). The full-power option is suited to powering terminals having touch-screen VoIP phones and multi-channel wireless LAN access points. The managed-power option uses an internal power management algorithm and reduces heat dissipation in the communication closet.
