Raleigh, N.C. Stackpole Electronics Inc. has introduced three high-frequency inductor lines that target a broad range of consumer, RF and communications applications such as cell phones, GPS devices, Bluetooth products, cordless phones, PDAs and base stations.
The three inductor technology offerings include the thin-film AL series for high reliability and precision applications, the cost-effective multi-layer CL Series, and the wirewound WL series that offers the highest frequency range and current carrying capability along with the best Quality (Q) factor of the three technologies.
Depending on technology, size, and inductance value, the high-frequency inductor will pass a certain desired range of frequencies, but will block or attenuate frequencies above the desired range, said the company. This eliminates high-frequency noise or interference from communications signals.
The AL inductor series is available in 0603 and 0402 case sizes with inductance values from 0.2 nH to 100 nH, in tolerances as low as .1 nH or 1%, and with SRF controlled to within 10%. These devices are suitable for cell phones, PDAs as well as wireless network and Bluetooth-enabled phones.
Available in 0603 and 0402 sizes, the CL inductors offer an inductance value range from 1.0 nH to 220 nH with tolerances as tight as .3 nH or 5%. This product provides a good blend of electrical performance and low cost, said the company.
The WL series inductors are available in a broad range of case sizes from 1008 to 0402. They also offer a wide inductance value range from 1.0 nH to 15 μH and higher. These devices target RF, broadband, and network communications applications.
Typical pricing for the AL series is $0.02 to $0.03 each, $0.01 to $0.02 each for the CL series, and $0.05 to $0.08 each for the WL series, in quantities of 10,000. Delivery is four to six weeks.
