Romoland, Calif. Datatronics Distribution Inc. has introduced an advanced DR359 series of surface-mount inductor/transformer that combines a unique dual-coil design with a low-profile package for miniature and handheld devices used in consumer, industrial, instrumentation, telecom and other industries.
The DR359 series devices measure .493 in. (12.5 mm) square with a low profile of .315 in. ( 8 mm) above the circuit board. Offering parallel and series functionality, the unique dual-coil design allows circuit designers to leverage the device's capability to support circuit requirements for either an inductor or transformer.
The DR359 inductor/transformer series supplies an inductance range from 0.47 to 1000 mH. The parallel windings offer an inductance range from 0.419 to 1005.0 mH (+20 percent), with a direct current resistance (DCR) from 0.00195 to 1.6600 ohms. The series windings inductance ranges from 1.676 to 4020 mH (+25 percent), with a DCR from 0.0078 to 6.640 ohms. Custom devices are available.
The combination of precision coil-winding technology and high-temperature materials packaging make the DR359 suitable for applications that require high performance and high reliability. The magnetic devices operate over a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C and all materials meet UL94V-0 specifications for operating in harsh conditions.
With a flat-top surface, the DR359 can be used for high-speed automated pick-and-place circuit board assembly equipment. The high-temperature materials also make the DR359 devices suitable for wave soldering.
Supplied in tape-and-reel or tube packaging, the DR359 is priced from $0.25 each in production volume. Delivery is from stock to six weeks.
