Malvern, Pa. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has launched six EMI filter arrays with integrated electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection diodes in ultra-small leadless, plastic packages. These devices provide both EMI filtering and ESD protection for data lines in space critical mobile applications.
The VEMI arrays are available in compact LLP75-6A, LLP75-7A, LLP70-9A, and flip-chip (BGA) packages and provide two-, three-, four-, and six-channel configurations, respectively. The arrays include the two-channel VEMI255A-HS3; three-channel VEMI353A-HA3, VEMI355A-HA3, and VEMI35AA-HA3 devices; four-channel VEMI453A-HN2; and six-channel flip-chip VEMI65A6-FC2. The compact flip-chip in-line version is particularly well suited for portable electronics, said the company.
Delivering high-quality filtering, the VEMI devices are capable of attenuating unwanted signals by more than 30 dB over the 900 MHz to 2.3 GHz frequency range, with low line resistance values from 30 ohms to 100 ohms. Low leakage current and capacitance help to prolong battery life, said the company. All six arrays provide transient protection for data lines per IEC 6100042 (ESD) at 30 kV (air and contact discharge) and IEC 6100045 (lightning) from 4 A to 5 A (tp = 8/20 us). These VEMI arrays are lead free and are compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC directives.
Designed for high-volume computing, communications, and consumer products, the EMI filter arrays provide I/O protection in mobile and smart phones, laptop computers, PDAs, MP3 players, digital still cameras, modems, and mobile gaming systems.
Pricing for U.S. delivery of the VEMI arrays range from $0.15 to $0.25 per piece or $15 to $25 per 100 pieces, in quantities of 100,000. Samples and production quantities are available now with lead times of 12 weeks.
