Carlsbad, Calif.—Astec Power's first bus converters in a sixteenth-brick deliver 150 watts. Working from a 36-55 volt input, the bricks are available in 5:1 fixed-ratio baseplate (AED17) and open-frame (ALD17) configurations. The company also announced a 180-watt, 4:1 fixed ratio eighth-brick, the ALO15B50, available in an open-frame construction. These converters serve distributed power applications requiring a quasi line-regulated source for low- to mid-range routers and blade servers.
Features include under-voltage lockout; output voltage control with either positive or negative logic; input over-voltage, output over-current and over-temperature protection; and 1500 VDC input-to-output isolation. These modules tout an innovative conversion topology that employs advanced layout techniques and careful component selection to enhance thermal characteristics and deliver operating efficiencies as high as 96 percent. MTBF is at least 1 million hours.
Contact the company directly for the product specification sheets. The converters, rated for operation over -40 to +85°C, are priced starting at $29 each for the AED/ALD models, and $34 for the ALO devices, all in OEM quantities.
