Boone, N.C. Capable of providing measurement and control functions in high-voltage power electronics applications, the CGH/CMH high-voltage power resistors from TT electronics IRC Wirewound and Film Technologies Division provide voltage ratings up to 20 KV.
Aimed at medical, military and industrial applications, the rugged precision thick-film resistors use IRC's proprietary thick-film MetalGlaze resistive element, which is said to provide ideal stability, precision, and high-voltage characteristics for a wide range of high power applications. The resistors exhibit low voltage coefficient of resistance (VCR) for excellent stability to provide accurate voltage measurements, said the company.
The CGH series resistors offer power ratings from 0.25 W to 5 W, and are available in resistance values ranging from 100 kΩ to 2000 MΩ at tolerances as low as ±0.5 percent, and temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) values down to ±50 ppm/°C. Voltage rating ranges from 750 V to 20 KV.

The CGH series can also be used as a high-voltage bleeder resistor to safely discharge voltage in a power supply. Other applications include medical and laboratory products such as X-ray machines, CAT scans, and particle detectors and accelerators; military devices such as radar power supply and night vision image intensifiers; digital transmission in broadcasting; and industrial applications, including laser controllers, vacuum processing, and electron-beam welding, evaporation and deposition.
The high-reliability version, designated as the CMH series, is military approved to MIL-R-49462 (type RHV) for all values from 0.25 W to 5W.
