Malvern, Pa. Vishay Intertechnology has developed the VLM series of high-intensity surface-mount LEDs as the RoHS-compliant version of its existing TLM series.
Featuring the same specifications as the TLM devices, the RoHS-compliant VLM series is compatible with lead-free reflow soldering processes according to JEDEC-STD-020b as well as CECC 00802. These VLM LEDs allow TLM LEDs in the MiniLED (up to 50 mcd), PLCC-2 (up to 240 mcd), and PLCC-4 (up to 1250 mcd) to be easily replaced to meet lead-free soldering requirements.
These VLM devices may be used for backlighting in automotive dashboards, car radios and switches. They may also find homes as indicators and backlights in telecommunications systems, A/V equipment and office equipment, and as flat backlights for LCDs, switches and symbols.

Pricing for U.S. delivery ranges from $3.00 to $14.00 in quantities of 100. Samples and production quantities of the VLM high-intensity SMD LEDs are available now, with lead times of four weeks for larger orders.
