Tokyo, Japan JFE Mineral Co. Ltd. has developed a planar inductor that combines high performance with an ultra-thin package for low-profile portable electronic devices such as cell phones, PDAs and digital cameras.
By leveraging the company's new material technology, with advanced photolithography and plating technology, the company was able to develop an ultra-thin inductor that measures 3.2 x 2.5 mm with a 0.6-mm thickness and a wide inductance range of 0.5 to 5.1 microhenries.
The planar inductor uses NiZn ferrite for loss reduction and a proprietary structural design for eddy current loss suppression. The device is lead free and RoHS compliant.
