Boca Raton, Fla. Touting one of the highest power density-to-size ratios, Cooper Bussmann Electronic Technologies, a business unit of Cooper Bussmann, offers a low-profile, RoHS-compliant line of inductors that measure 3.1 x 3.1 mm.
Mobile device applications for the Coiltronics SD3112, SD3114 and SD3118 series of shielded drum, ferrite core inductors include cellular phones, digital cameras, small LCD displays and personal data assistants (PDAs). The SD3112, for example, offers high power output with inductor values ranging from 1.0 microH (mu;H) at 1.65 A to 220 μH at 0.113 amps. Higher current ratings are available in slightly taller profiles of 1.4 mm (SD3114), and 1.8 mm (SD3118).
A key advantage of the ferrite shield is the reduction of EMI effects compared to unshielded drum core structures, said the company. In addition, the design is also said to be easier for pick and place machines to recognize and properly orient the parts.
Available in tape and reel (4,100 parts per reel) packaging, the inductors are priced at $0.190 in volume. Delivery is four weeks.
