Endicott, NY, May 2006 – Endicott Research says its S and SE Series (DC/AC) inverters, which can power up to two cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) for backlighting liquid crystal displays (LCDs), have the industry's smallest form factor. They're available in both open-frame (S Series) and encapsulated (SE series) versions.
The basic 5-watt S Series inverter, measuring just 2.87-by-0.62-by-0.38 inches (LWH), weighs just 12 grams. It's available in standard 5- and 12-volt versions for point-of-service terminals and navigation/GPS systems. Custom versions (input voltages from 3.3 to 48 VDC) are available.
The company's single-lamp SE Series, measuring 2.98-by-0.75-by-0.42 inches (LWH), has the same general specifications as the S Series but is vacuum encapsulated—a design touted unique to ERG—to provide maximum reliability and resistance to shock, vibration, and humidity. These inverters can be applied to industrial and medical handheld instrumentation and secure card payment terminals. The company's SE2 models, for two lamps, have the same footprint and vacuum encapsulated design.
Both inverter Series feature an operating temperature range of –20 to 70°C and are PC mountable. The inverters are available for LCDs from virtually every major panel manufacturer. The S and SE Series are also available in “generic” off-the-shelf (D Series) models for customers who need an inverter right away for evaluation.
Pricing for S Series inverters is $7.32 each in production quantities. Pricing for the SE Series inverters is $9.80 each. Delivery is 2-4 weeks ARO. Contact Jim Rising for additional information.
