Corpus Christi, Tex. TT electronics IRC Advanced Film Division has extended the resistance range of its bondable chip resistors to 1 megohm (MΩ) while maintaining the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) value at ±25 ppm/°C for medical electronics such as battery-operated implantable devices and hybrid circuit applications.
Designed to deliver precision and stability over time and temperature, the WBC series of ultra-miniature resistor chips combine IRC's tantalum nitride thin-film technology with silicon substrate processing (TaNSil) to produce devices 20-mil square. The WBC series is said to be the only available 1 MΩ precision resistor in a miniature package with TCRs as low as ±25 ppm/°C.
The WBC series of wire bondable resistor chips offer a resistance range from 10Ω to 1MΩ, with absolute tolerances to ±0.1% and ratio tolerances (0303 chip) to ±0.05%. The precision resistors feature a power rating of 250 mW at 70°C, with a rated operating voltage of 100 V. Absolute TCRs are ±25 ppm/°C, with tracking TCRs to ±2 ppm/°C. The operating temperature range is -55°C to 150°C.

The wire bondable chip resistors are available in 0202 and 0303 chip sizes, with optional gold backside metallization. The 0303 two-resistor center-tapped chips can be used in feedback circuits of amplifiers, where ratio matching, high power and close tracking between two resistors is critical.
