Boone, N.C. TT electronics IRC Wire and Film Technologies Division has developed a series of power wirewound resistors with high temperature ceramic shells in power ratings up to 60 W. Available in axial and radial lead configurations, these PW and PWR series flameproof resistors are capable of handling overload conditions.
Specifically designed for power applications, the high-temperature ceramic shells with inorganic fill materials of the PW/PWR resistors create a flameproof construction. Since the PW series can be ordered with temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) values as high as 5500 ppm/°C, they may be used to protect circuits from thermal runaway or circuits that require temperature compensation, said the company. Other applications include power electronics circuits such as inrush, pulse, or protection resistors; voltage dividers, bleeders, current limiters, and load banks. They are specified in power supplies, motor controllers, white goods and automotive applications.
The PW series resistors offer power ratings from 2 W to 25 W in axial-lead configurations and 20 W to 60 W in radial terminal configurations. They are available in resistance values ranging from 0.10 ohms to 30 Kohms at standard tolerances of ±10% or ±5%. TCRs range from 300 ppm/°C to 5500 ppm/°C. The PWR series resistors are radial leaded (vertical) devices with power ratings from 3 W to 10 W, and resistance values ranging from 0.10 ohms to 18 Kohms with standard tolerances of ±10% or ±5%. Custom specifications are available. Click the link for the PWR series datasheet.
