ZICHRON YAACOV, Israel Mobile digital television (MDTV) chip developer Siano Mobile Silicon will introduce a standard receiver chipset for mobile digital television (MDTV) to the Asian market.
Designated the SMS1000, the chipset is a low-cost, low-power, quad-band multi-standard receiver that combines an RF tuner and demodulator. The company said the chipset provides a complete solution to integrate digital TV into handheld and portable devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, laptop computers and portable media players.
The SMS1000 supports DVB-H, DVB-T, DAB, Enhanced Packet Mode DAB (IP-DAB) and T-DMB mobile digital standards, in various spectrum ranges.
Siano teamed up with Inventec Appliances Corporation (IAC), a Taiwanese handheld device maker, to integrate its chips into Inventec’s mobile and other handheld devices.
The chipset will be bundled with software from InterVideo, a Taiwan supplier of integrated digital and high-definition multimedia and audio/video content solutions.
