Ontario, Canada—Absopulse's RWY282 dual-output, push-pull DC/DC converter, an extension to the company's RWY series designed for railway and other critical applications in harsh environments, delivers 280 watts in a compact enclosure measuring just 4.4-by-7.90-by-2.4 inches and weighing less than 3 pounds.
Features include a combined line and load regulation of ±1.5 percent from zero to full load on each output, ripple and noise less than 1 percent p-p, dynamic response of 1 ms for a 10 to 50 percent load step and 5 percent maximum voltage deviation, and effiiciency of 80 to 90 percent depending on the input/output configuration.
The fully encapsulated RWY282, working from a 24-,36-, 48-, 72-, or 110 VDC input, has two independently regulated outputs. Each output is available with a fixed 5 to 72-volt output and up to 12 amps, consistent with a maximum output of 140 watts. The outputs are floating and either terminal can be grounded.
The RWY282 meets the stringent requirements of EN50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock. Conduction cooled via a base plate, the RWY282 is rated for full output over -40 to +70°C. It meets EN55022 Class B and EN50121-3-2 (conducted and radiated) EMI requirements as well as the immunity and input isolation requirements stipulated for EN50155 and other relevant standards. MTBF is at least 200,000 hours at +45°C; demonstrated MTBF exceeds 1 million hours at typical operating temperatures.
