Norfolk, England Syfer Technology has announced that all of its standard radial lead capacitors are available with tin terminations, as a replacement for the traditional tin-lead terminations, to comply with the requirements of the European Union Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive. These devices are typically used in power supplies for general-purpose and telecommunications systems, and high-voltage power supplies for medical instrumentation.
All internal solder joints of the radial lead capacitors are also lead-free. For customers required to demonstrate compliance, part numbers have been modified and clearly labelled with an additional "C42" suffix.
Available in both X7R and ultra-stable COG dielectrics, the standard RoHS-compliant radial lead capacitors are offered in voltages from 50 V to 5 kV. COG parts are available in capacitance values from 3.9 pF to 180 nF, while the X7R families range from 100 pF to 4.7 uF. All of these devices are compatible with conventional wave soldering and higher temperature lead-free wave soldering techniques.
Syfer still supports a tin-lead finish for customers in some military, space and aerospace industry sectors that are currently RoHS exempt.
Prices range between 10 cents to dollars, depending on capacitance, voltage and quantity. Delivery is approximately four weeks.
