Palo Alto, Calif.Test-and-measurement vendor Agilent Technologies, Inc. now offers a cost-effective mobile-phone functional tester. Agilent's GS-8210 system includes a mobile test station and test software. The tester is priced starting at about $25,400.
Most significantly, Agilent's GS-8210 functional tester also includes a special RF-shielded box with build-in antenna coupler. The RF shield box lets you simulate call operation, and provide reliable test results, while avoiding conflicts with real networks.
The GS-8210 tester supports GSM, GPRS/EGPRS, and W-CDMA technologies. Future editions will include options for cdma2000, 1xEV-DO, HSDPA, and TD-SCDMA. Software automates the testing program.
The GS-8210 also lets you perform functional testing on the manufacturing line, and do fault diagnoses and adjustments on manufacturing QA (quality assurance) and repair lines. What's more, the GS-8210 lends itself to go/no-go testing at service shops.
The GS-8210 system can also save floor space, thanks to its small footprint. Moreover, an upgrade feature lets you add new firmware or hardware as needed, instead of buying new equipment.
