Boca Raton, Fla. Cooper Bussmann Electronic Technologies, a business unit of Cooper Bussmann, expands its line of high power density-to-size ratio inductors with the Coiltronics SD3110 series. These shielded drum, ferrite core inductors with a 3.1 x 3.1 x 1-mm footprint is said to offer one of the highest power density-to-size ratios of any surface-mount inductor.
The Coiltronics SD3110 series offers high power output with inductor values ranging from 0.5 uH at 2.27 amps to 220 uH at 0.106 amps. These inductors target next-generation portable devices such as cellular phones, digital cameras, PDAs, and small LCD displays. They may also be used in LED driver and flash circuits, hard disk drives, backlighting and EL panels.
The company said the ferrite shield reduces EMI effects when compared to unshielded drum core structures. The design is also easier for pick and place machines to recognize and properly orient. Parts are available in tape and reel (4,100 parts per reel) packaging. They are compliant with the EU's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directives.
