Malvern, Pa. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. offers TH3 molded solid tantalum chip capacitors that are designed to provide high reliability with a high-temperature capability of 150°C with 50% voltage derating.
Part of Vishay's Tantamount family, the surface-mount TH3 tantalum capacitors offer a capacitance range of 0.33 to 100 microfarads (uF) and a voltage range from 10 V to 50 V. These molded-case devices are available in five case sizes from A through E, per EIA-535BAAC. By providing higher temperature capabilities than the industry-standard 125°C, the TH3 capacitors give designers a less expensive option for high-temperature applications, said the company.
The TH3 molded solid tantalum chip capacitors are optimized for a variety of high-temperature automotive uses including under the hood and on-engine applications such as engine control, fuel injection systems, steer-by-wire, diesel ignition control, and transmission control. They will also find homes in sensor applications such as tire pressure monitoring and temperature control, and industrial applications related to the control of high-temperature materials and oil exploration sensing systems.

Pricing for U.S. delivery ranges from $0.10 to $0.50, depending on case size. Samples and production quantities of the TH3 solid tantalum chip capacitors are available now, with lead times of eight to ten weeks for larger orders.
