El Segundo, Calif.—International Rectifier's IRS21xx and IRS21xxx additions to the company's line of G5 500- and 600-volt high-voltage integrated circuits (HVICs), 19 additional versions in all, boast greater ruggedness for motor control, lighting, switchmode power supplies, audio, and flat-panel displays.
The analog ICs, which comprise half-bridge and high- and low-side drivers, tout an advanced high-voltage, level-shifting technology to facilitate superior electrical over-stress protection and higher field reliability. These devices have passed a 2000-hour high-temperature test whereby the device's junction temperature exceeds datasheet specifications.
In addition, these devices are reportedly less sensitive to moisture and, according to the company, provide improvements in the plastic-to-die interface. Thus, they will easily withstand the increase in peak soldering temperatures brought about by the adoption of lead-free soldering materials.
