Weymouth, Mass. Electroswitch's military rotary switches are available in a variety of configurations and ratings. These switches are constructed to withstand impact, vibration, temperature variation, and natural events.
The detent-action and snap-action rotary switches feature fully enclosed switching mechanisms encased in phenolic molding to prevent contamination from dirt, sand, moisture, and other contaminants. The modular design of these heavy-duty switches allows for the customization of position and pole layouts to meet specific form, fit and function requirements.
The detent-action rotary switches permit multiple decks in a single switch (each deck can contain multiple contacts). Maintenance-free contacts operate on the knife-switch principle with low-resistance, silver-plated, double-sided, self-cleaning blades. A steel stop plate can be used to limit positions and locations. Positive indexing is achieved using a star-wheel with spring-loaded ball bearings, and spring-return models use coil springs.
The Series 24G instrument and control detent-action rotary military switches are available in two standard contact configurations. One configuration targets control switching and other applications requiring two or three positions (there are two separate and independent contacts in each deck), while the second configuration aims at applications such as tap, transfer, and selector switches for metering and other applications that require three or more "ON" positions. Low-current models are also available.
The snap-action rotary military switches feature quick make-and-break action, making them suitable for DC and AC switching. Stationary low-resistance, double-wiping contacts are available in non-shorting, shorting, or "sweep" styles. Rotor blades can be configured in several ways including simple (for single-throw switching in one circuit and double-throw in another), right-angle (for double-throw switching and an intermediate OFF position), or multi-fingered (for double-throw, triple-throw, or four-throw switching).
Options include spring-return, make-before-break (shorting) contacts, motor-driven models, ganged switches, solenoid locks, or tandem configurations. Waterproof mounts, nameplates, nameplate engravings, and a wide variety of handles are also available. Click the link to access the military switch selector guide.
