Warminster, Penna.D601 SBCs (single board computers) from MEN Micro, Inc. feature Intel Pentium M processors and conduction cooling for fanless operation. They can be used in extended temp applications in military, aerospace, and industrial control applications.
Fitted with either a 1.4-GHz LV (Low Voltage Pentium M) or a 1-GHz ULV (Ultra-Low Voltage Celeron microprocessor, a conduction cooled 6U-sized cPCI (CompactPCI) D601 is capable of operating over the entire extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, without forced-air cooling. Alternatively, a D601 can also be equipped with Intel processors with speeds up to 2-GHz.
On-board memory is high-speed DDR2 (double data rate) DRAM. It ensures access rates of up to 2-Gbits/s.
These SBCs also use Intel's 915GM chipset. It provides high-speed communication for Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and graphics. The chipset also supports two high-throughput SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) ports.
The single-slot D601 has a 32-bit 33-MHz interface to the cPCI bus, but it can also function as a standalone processing unit in bus-less systems.
In addition to the two SATA interfaces, the D601 also has a parallel ATA port. It can be connected to IDE CompactFlash memory, or a hard disk.
No Socketed Devices
To enhance resistance to shock and vibration, there are no socketed components on a D601. All devices and components are soldered directly to the printed circuit board.
I/O on the rear panel includes VGA graphics, and you can display the same or different images on multiple monitors. The two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces use the board's PCI Express lanes. you also get three USB 2.0 (Universal Serial Bus) ports.
Several watchdog monitors are available for observing the performance of a D601's processor, board temperature, or other performance metrics.
The D601 is supported by packages for Windows, Linux, Wind River VxWorks, and QNX operating systems.
