Boston, Mass.VIA Technologies Inc. has launched the VIA CX700M digital media IGP chipset for the VIA C7 and Eden processor platforms.
Designed specifically for the embedded market, the VIA CX700M integrates graphics, audio, memory, storage, and HDTV support all in a single chip design.
The VIA CX700M has a built-in HDTV encoder for connection to the latest displays, as well as a multi-configuration LVDS/DVI transmitter. It also features the VIA UniChrome Pro II IGP core with 128-bit 2D/3D graphics; the Chromotion Video Engine; memory controller technology with support for DDR and DDR2 memory modules; and the VIA Vinyl HD audio controller, which supports up to eight HD channels.
Broad connectivity comes with support for SATA II and PATA drives, six USB2.0 ports, and four PCI slots.
The VIA CX700M chip set is intended to help engineers create smaller form factor designs with lower power consumption. Measuring 35mm x 35mm, the VIA CX700M generates a silicon real estate saving of more than 42%, according to the company.
