San Jose, Calif.Micrel Inc. is sampling its sixth generation PHY, the KSZ8041NL, which it claims delivers the industry's lowest power consumption of just 150-mW and the highest ESD ratings for a Fast Ethernet transceiver at 6-kV.
The KSZ8041NL is targeted at applications in which board real estate is at a premium, low power is required, or stringent ESD conditions apply such as in Industrial Ethernet environments.
This sixth generation IC is part of the KS8001 family and is the latest addition to Micrel's KS8721 line of Fast Ethernet PHYs.
The KSZ8041NL low-power PHY comes in a small 5mm x 5mm QFN package. In addition, at 6KV ESD, the chip exceeds the ESD requirements for most industrial applications.
Volume quantities are expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2006. Pricing is $1.31 each in 1,000-unit quantities through Micrel's distributors.
