These dual-axis accelerometers offer a customer selectable sensitivity within a 2.5 g to 10 g range (2.5 g/ 3.3 g/ 6.7 g/ 10 g), which allows the devices to be used for multiple functions. They detect small changes in force resulting from fall, tilt, motion, position, shock or vibration. These MEMS-based accelerometers are housed in a 16-lead 6 x 6 x 1.45-mm QFN lead-free package. Key specifications include low-current consumption of 500 microamps, low-voltage operation at 2.2 to 3.6 volts and a fast 1 ms power-up response. In sleep mode, the accelerometers draw 3 microamps for extended battery life. It also feature integrated signal conditioning, amplification and temperature compensation with a low-pass filter. The devices are RoHS compliant.
The MMA6271QT (XY-axis), MMA6281QT (XZ-axis) are currently available in
production quantities. The suggested resale price starts at $4.03 for the MMA6271QT and $4.33 for the MMA6281QT in quantities of 10,000. Suggested consumer product pricing is less than $2 in high volume.
