Mentor Graphics Corporation has announced that its suite of advanced synthesis products supports the newly introduced Stratix III FPGAs from Altera Corporation. Both companies have been in close cooperation to ensure Precision Synthesis support for the full range of Stratix III devices. Beta support for the family is available now, with production support available with the production release of Altera's Quartus II design software version 6.1.
Stratix III, Altera's latest family of FPGA devices, is designed to deliver lower power, higher performance, and greater density than its predecessor, Stratix II. "Stratix III, with its high-density, embedded DSP blocks, and integrated multi-gigabit transceivers, demands an advanced synthesis tool," said Simon Bloch, general manager, Mentor Graphics Design Creation and Synthesis Division. "Customers wanting to take full advantage of the low power and high performance offered by Stratix III FPGAs will need Precision Synthesis."
The companies began collaboration earlier this year on supporting the Stratix III FPGA family within the Mentor Graphics family of synthesis tools. "Support for Stratix III devices in Mentor Graphics Precision Synthesis is critical for our customers," said Danny Biran, vice president of product and corporate marketing at Altera. "Given the advances in performance, power-optimizing functionality and density of Stratix III FPGAs, our customers will benefit from the advanced synthesis capabilities offered by Mentor Graphics."
