Anritsu Introduces All-in-one Field Measuring OTDR for Construction and Maintenance of Optical Networks

Designed specifically to satisfy market demands, the ACCESS Master MT9083A Series is a lightweight and reliable test solution that provides high resolution, long battery life, and simple operation at a moderate price.
The ACCESS Master MT9083A OTDRs feature multiple wavelengths and options to satisfy any network testing requirement. Their event dead zone of <1 m at 80 cm and sampling resolution of 5 cm allow the OTDRs to easily evaluate connections and troubleshoot central offices, FTTx, and intra-building faults. In addition to its superb high-resolution performance, the ACCESS Master MT9083A Series also features up to 38.5 dB dynamic range, allowing it to easily test 100+ km spans, for accurate analysis in long haul applications.
For professionals installing and maintaining metro area or access networks, the ACCESS Master MT9083A Series offers an automated fiber construction application and multiple wavelengths, including specialty applications such as 1383 nm for certifying legacy fibers for CWDM upgrades. For FTTx networks, the MT9083A series provides optical testing at all of the primary wavelengths, plus quality of service (QoS) verification via an IP testing option. With the IP option, continuity, download speed, throughput and frame loss of Gigabit Ethernet links can be verified up to full line rate. It also features a unique way to troubleshoot live PON-based, FTTx networks without additional costly and complicated external filters.
A True all-in-one Tester
ACCESS Master MT9083A test sets are designed to make measurements simple and error-free with true one-button fault location, pass/fail classification, and automated file saving and naming. The ACCESS Master MT9083A eliminates the need for multiple instruments to be taken into the field. The OTDR port functions as a stabilized light source, providing continuous wave, 270 Hz, 1 kHz, and 2 kHz modulations for easy fiber identification. It also serves as an integrated power meter for verification of optical power levels.
An optional visible light source with up to 5 km of operation can also be installed in the ACCESS Master MT9083A for locating bad connections, splices, and fiber management issues, such as macrobend. Three optical power meter optionsone supporting both SM and MM fibers, one for only SM fibers, and a third with an optical integrator sphere for measuring high optical powers of +20 dBmare also available.
