New Bedford, Mass. Cornell Dubilier Electronics (CDE) has expanded its series of multilayer RF chip capacitors with voltage ratings up to 2500 Vdc. The MCH and MCHN capacitors are designed for use in high RF power designs where stability is critical. Applications include MRI coils, plasma chambers, baluns, lasers, RF power amplifiers and transmitters.
The Type MCH uses a high Q mica dielectric to avoid cracking and delaminating that is often associated with other SMD dielectrics in large sizes. The high temperature threshold of these chips is compatible with FR4 boards and permits wave soldering.
Available in a 3838 case size, the surface-mount MCH devices offer capacitance values from 270 pF to 1000 pF with additional ratings available. The RF capacitors offer lower equivalent series resistance (ESR) and higher current carrying capability than other similar dielectrics, said the company.
