Worcester, Mass. Allegro MicroSystems, Inc. has developed a series of Darlington transistors exclusively for home and professional audio amplifier markets.
With a high safe operating area (SOA) and low thermal resistance derived from using a new thinner die technology, the STD series (STD03N and STD03P devices) achieves high power performance (160 watts) in a small TO-3P package. These transistors are suitable for applications where enhanced thermal stability is required.
The STD03N/P transistors provide a built-in thermal compensation diode on the same die, which eliminates any delay for thermal compensation operation and any delay between thermal sensing at the heat source and response at the compensation area. This integration can also simplify circuit design and reduce the external component count.
In addition, these devices achieve higher power levels through decreased thermal resistance, and can withstand higher voltages than similar devices on the market, according to the company. Click the link for more information about the STD03N and STD03P transistors.
The STD03N and STD03P transistors are priced at $1.90 in quantities of 1,000. Delivery is 10 to 12 weeks.
