Chelmsford, Mass. Hittite Microwave Corporation developed the HMC615LP4(E); a high IP3 mixer with integrated LO amplifier which is rated for 2.3 to 4.0 GHz, and exhibits +35 dBm input IP3 with only +4 dBm LO drive. The passive mixer topology works for both upconversion and downconversion applications, and supports IF bandwidths of up to 1 GHz. The HMC615LP4(E) requires no external baluns or matching components, and is housed in a RoHS compliant 4x4 mm QFN "E" SMT package. Markets for the IP3 mixer include CATV, cellular/3G, broadband, WiMAX and fixed wireless applications from DC to 4 GHz.
Also released by Hittite are the HMC580ST89(E) and the HMC589ST89(E) high linearity gain blocks. The HMC580ST89(E) is specified from DC to 1.0 GHz, provides up to 22 dB of gain, and +37 dBm of output IP3, while the HMC589ST89(E) is rated from DC to 4.0 GHz, with up to 21 dB of gain, and +33 dBm of output IP3. These gain blocks feature integrated bias control circuitry which allows operation from a single +5V supply. They are housed in industry standard and RoHS compliant SOT89 "E" SMT packages.
