Camarillo, Calif. Semtech Corp. announced the SC2447, a DC-DC step-down (buck) controller for DrMOS™ power devices. The SC2447 is a 1 MHz synchronous PWM buck controller designed to drive DrMOS™ power devices in compact, high-efficiency DC-DC power converters for telecom, datacom, switches, routers, and other high-end applications. The dual-channel SC2447 can produce two independent outputs of up to 30 A each, a single high-current output up to 60 A, and an input voltage ranging from 4.65 V to 15 V.
The SC2447 incorporates soft-start/enable pins for each output and 180-degree out-of-phase operation that minimizes the input current ripple and enables the use of smaller input filter capacitors, which reduce the size and cost of the total design. The device can be started into a pre-biased output. It also features hiccup overload protection, which protects the converter from overload damage and automatically returns to normal operation when overload condition is removed. The SC2447 is provided in a 28-lead TSSOP package that is lead-free and meets RoHS and WEEE environmental standards.
