Westlake Village, Calif.Inphi Corp. is touting the latest member of its ExacTik family of precision timing products as the industry's first JEDEC compliant double data-rate (DDR3) configurable integrated register device.
The INSSTE32882 supports all existing DDR3-800, DDR3-1066, DDR3-1333 standards as well as proposed standards for server memory operating at DDR3-1600 rates. The INSSTE32882 registered buffer is claimed to be the first DDR3-1600 product available for immediate use in advanced workstations, and servers and high reliability systems.
"Inphi's SSTE32882 register device represents an important first step in preparing the industry for designing platforms requiring DDR3 RDIMM memory in next generation servers," said Mian Quddus, chairman of the JEDEC board of directors and technical marketing director, Samsung Semiconductor Inc., in a statement. "Early availability of these devices ensures that manufacturers will be able to transition smoothly to mass production of next generation servers employing DDR3 memory."
The INSSTE32882 has a typical propagation delay of 0.7-nS compared with the JEDEC proposed specification of 1.1-nS. Since the INSSTE32882 meets DDR3-800 to DDR3-1600 rates, it allows memory vendors to use a single register for all four speed grades.
The INSSTE32882 is manufactured using 0.18 micron technology. It is available in a 176-ball LFBGA green package.
Pricing: Starts at $5.80 in quantities of 2,000 units.
