Malvern, Pa. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. says it has released the industry's first electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection array to integrate eight diodes in the small, leadless LLP1713 package. With an extremely low profile of 0.55 mm, the VESD05A8A-HNH is designed to provide ESD protection while saving board space in portable electronics for mobile computing, mobile communication, consumer, industrial, automotive, and medical applications.
The VESD05A8A-HNH device protects up to eight signal or data lines in bidirectional asymmetrical (BiAs) mode, and can also be used as a seven-line protection device in bidirectional symmetrical (BiSy) mode. The ESD diode array features a low typical capacitance of 30 pF and a low maximum leakage current of <1 microamp at 5 V.
The VESD05A8A-HNH provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC 6100042 (ESD) at 25 kV (air and contact discharge) and IEC 6100045 (lightning) from 4.5 A (tp = 8/20 us). It is also compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.
