Munich, Germany Epson Toyocom says it has introduced the industry's smallest tuning fork crystal unit in a 2.0 x 1.2 x 0.6 mm footprint. The surface-mount FC-12M targets mobile products including mobile terminals, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and portable media players.
The FC-12M incorporates QMEMS and high-precision mounting technologies to achieve the ultra-compact dimensions, which is about half the footprint of its predecessor while maintaining the same performance as the previous model, said the company.
The FC-12M offers a nominal frequency range of 32.0 kHz to 78 kHz with a standard frequency tolerance (or accuracy) of ±30 x
10-6 / ±50 x 10-6. Series resistance is 75 kohms maximum. The FC-12M is RoHS compliant.
Epson Toyocom also plans to offer ultra-compact low/medium-frequency oscillators and real-time clock modules incorporating the FC-12M in response to expected growth in demands for further miniaturization and higher-density mounting for mobile products.
