Mountain View, Calif.NetLogic Microsystems Inc. is shipping the NL8000, its fourth generation knowledge-based processor to its leading customer in support of multiple programs covering a range of advanced products.
According to NetLogic, the NL8000 processor is the first in the industry capable of achieving 1.2 billion decisions per second (BDPS), which is more than double the packet processing performance of NetLogic Microsystems' third generation product.
The ML8000 incorporates advanced clock switching schemes to achieve an aggregate throughput of 40-Gbits/s. The NL8000 device also achieves new levels of parallel processing performance through a patented dual-core technology and the ability to parse decisions into 64 processing elements.
The ability to execute multiple parallel decisions during a single core clock cycle combined with its highly pipelined synchronous cross-connect bussing scheme enables customers to deploy 100-Gbits/s ASIC, switches and network processors.
The NL8000 knowledge-based processor also supports more than half a million Quality-of-Service (QoS) or Access Control List (ACL) entries.
