Schaumburg, Ill. Omron Electronic Components LLC has developed a series of non-amplified, slotted phototransistors in a fixed "U-shaped" housing that integrates both the emitter and detector. Developed for motion and position detection, the EE-SX1 series of transmissive photomicrosensors detect the presence of an object without direct contact.
The EE-SX1 photomicrosensors are available in three mounting styles: SMD, through-hole PCB, and panel mount with connector. They are housed in a package as small as 3.0 H x 3.0 W x 3.4 D mm with slots ranging from 1 to 5 mm.
The EE-SX1 infrared LED and phototransistor design is said to ensure long-life. High resolution is realized through the narrow aperture width of 0.15 to 0.5 mm. The SMD version operates in a temperature range of -30° to 85°C, the through-hole in the range of -25° to 85°C, and the panel-mount in the range of -20° to 70°C. The optical switches can be customized for a variety of requirements including light intensity, termination options, and package configurations.
The photomicrosensors are suitable for low dust, humidity, and light interference applications such as utility meters, ATMs, office automation, computer peripherals and gaming.
