Manchester, Conn. Designed for under-the-hood automotive applications, Multi-Seals Inc. introduces the Uni-Form M5-82 linear epoxy preform that remains flexible under temperature changes.
As part of the company's Uni-Form epoxy preform system, the M5-82 epoxy preforms are one-part epoxy resins that are solid at room temperature. When heated, Uni-forms melt and cure, forming a consistent seal that protects components from dust, moisture, oil, flux, solvents, conformal coatings, and other contaminants, said the company.
The post-cure flexibility of the Epoxy M5-82 improves adhesion to component materials with dissimilar coefficients of thermal expansion, said the company. In addition to under-the-hood automotive applications, the M5-82 epoxy preforms may be used in other environments that require seal integrity under adverse temperature conditions. To accommodate these diverse applications, Uni-forms are available in multiple configurations, with outside diameters as small as .035-inch (0.89 mm) and as large as .720-inch (18.29 mm). Preforms can be dispensed as rapidly as 200 to 600 parts per minute with little or no operator training.
Preforms also eliminate pot-life concerns and costly cleanup procedures, said the company. Uni-forms are available in several formulations in addition to the M5-82 epoxy preform.
Pricing: Typical preform configurations range from $0.025 to $0.005 each, depending on order quantities.
