Malvern, Penn. Vishay Intertechnology released a compact 4-line ESD-protection array designed to protect dual high-speed USB ports or up to four other high-frequency signal lines against transient voltage signals up to 15 kV.
The array is packaged in the leadless LLP75, with a 1.6 x 1.6-mm footprint and low profile of 0.6 mm (VBUS054B-HSF) or 0.75 mm (VBUS054B-HS3) to minimize the board space required for active ESD protection in a range of portable electronic systems, including portable and handheld computing, communications, industrial, automotive and medical applications.
The device features a low capacitance of <1 pF and a low typical leakage current of <0.1 µA at the maximum working voltage of 5 V. The ESD protection array offers a breakthrough voltage of typical 6.5 V (at 1 mA), and a maximum clamping voltage of 15 V at 3 A.
The VBUS054B provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC 6100042 (ESD) at 15 kV (air and contact discharge) and IEC 6100045 (lightning) from 3 A (tp=8/20 µs). It is also compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.
