Bradford, Pa. KOA Speer Electronics has released the WK73 wide terminal flat chip resistor for high-power applications. The flat chip resistor features higher power ratings as a result of its enhanced heat dissipation, said the company.
For example, the WK73S3A type in a 1225 case size offers a 1.5-W rating compared to KOA Speer's RK73B3A type in a 2512 size with a 1-W rating. The WK73 provides current sensing for power supply circuits, which makes it suitable for automotive electronics, ECUs, anti-locking braking systems and airbag systems.
The wide terminal construction of the WK73 resistor is said to provide superior thermal shock characteristics and high solder joint reliability. The resistance range of the WK73 is 22 mΩ to 1 MΩ and the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) rating are ±100, ±200, ±300, and ±800 ppm/°C. The available tolerances are ±1% and ±5% with a high power rating of 1.0 W and 1.5 W at 70°C. The WK73 resistor is available in 1020, 1218 and 1225 package sizes and is RoHS compliant.
