Integrating a binary counter and unique 64-bit serial number, the DS1372 real-time clock (RTC) satisfies DRM requirements and enables designers to reduce system component count and use a less expensive processor.
The binary counter allows easy conversion to time-of-day and elapsed-time measurements, and the 64-bit serial number is factory-lasered into the device to eliminate the need for user programming and to prevent tampering.
Designed for battery-backed applications in which low current consumption is critical, the DS1372 consumes 450 nA (typ) at 3 V. The use of this low-power RTC in a typical battery-backed MP3 player enables the application to shut down the main processor to conserve battery life.
The DS1372 is available in an RoHS-compliant, 8-pin microSOP that is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C operating temperature range.
Pricing: From $0.93 (1000+, FOB USA).
