Geneva, Switzerland STMicroelectronics has unveiled a 32-Mbit serial Flash memory family with dual I/O for guaranteed high-speed performance. ST says the M25PX32 is the first of the sector, sub-sector erase Serial Flash family to be offered with dual I/O. Applications include digital flat panels, set-top boxes, PCs, optical disk drives and printers.
Offering higher performance including improved speed of operation over the full supply voltage range, guaranteed full-temperature performance in addition to dual I/O, the M25PX32 guarantees the support of a 75-MHz frequency over the entire 2.7 to 3.6V supply voltage range and the operating industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
The dual I/O is also said to offer several benefits. During the fast read phase, the dual output command allows the system to double the data transfer bandwidth, effectively clocking the NOR at the equivalent of 150 MHz, and in the fast program phase both the input and output pins are used for programming the memory, said ST.
In addition to device-security features such as protection after power up, the M25PX32 also delivers an additional 64-byte user-lockable, one-time programmable (OTP) area, and the possibility to set the memory as read-only.
Pricing: Budgetary pricing is estimated at $1.55 in quantities of 10,000.
Availability: Samples of the M25PX32 in S08W, the ultra-thin MLP8 5 x 6 mm, and SO16W packages, are available now with volume production planned for fourth quarter 2007.
