Sunnyvale, Calif. Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc. (AnalogicTech) has released the AAT1112 (1.5 A) and the AAT1145 (1.2 A) constant frequency current mode step-down converters. Available in a 3 x 3-mm TDFN package, these current-mode converters require no external compensation components.
The AAT1112 supplies up to 1.5-A output current from a 2.4-V to 5.5-V input. The AAT1145 supplies up to 1.2-A output current from a 2.5-V to 5.5-V input. Output voltage can be regulated from 0.6 V to VIN. The devices also help extend battery life by running at 100 percent duty cycle for low dropout operation and by offering up to 95 percent power efficiency. Both devices enable a lithium-ion battery input to a 3.3-V output at full rated current.
Slope-compensated current mode PWM control enables the use of inductor values as low 1 μH; while the high 1.5 MHz and 1.4-MHz switching frequency enables the use of small external components. The AAT1112 and AAT1145 offer integrated soft start and short-circuit and thermal fault protection, and feature a low shutdown current of <1 μA.
Rated over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range, the AAT1112 step-down converter comes in a Pb-free, 3 x 3 mm, 12-lead TDFN package and Pb-free, 2.75 x 3 mm, 12-lead TSOPJW package. The AAT1145 is available in a Pb-free, 3 x 3 mm, 10-lead TDFN package.
Pricing: The AAT1112 step-down converter sells for $1.64 each in the TDFN package and $1.57 each in the TSOPJW package, in quantities of 1,000. The AAT1145 step-down converter in a 10-lead TDFN package sells for $1.51 each, in quantities of 1,000.
