Malvern, Pa. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has released the SMNZ ultra-high-precision Z-Foil four-resistor network, which provides a low absolute temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of ±0.05 ppm/°C from 0°C to +60°C and ±0.2 ppm/°C from 55°C to +125°C, an excellent power coefficient of resistance (PCR) tracking of 5 ppm at rated power, and a tolerance match of 0.01%.
The SMNZ device also offers a load-life stability of ±0.005% for 2000 hours at 70°C, a resistance range of 100 ohms (Ω) to 10 kΩ per resistor, a power rating of 0.4 W (or 0.1 W per resistor) at 70°C and current noise of less than -40 dB. It also delivers a fast rise time of 1.0 ns without ringing and features a non-inductive, non-hot-spot design. The SMNZ device can withstand electrostatic discharges exceeding 25 kV for increased reliability.
The SMNZ resistor network combines four independent Bulk Metal Z-Foil resistors in a single, surface-mount JEDEC MS-012 package with a 50-mil lead pitch. A large variety of resistance ratios is available. Offering better performance and more efficient use of board space than discrete resistors and matched sets, the SMNZ can be used independently or as divider pairs. Applications include instrumentation and differential amplifiers, bridge networks, radio arms in bridge circuits, medical and test equipment, and military and aerospace systems.
