Durham, N.C. Cree, Inc. has released an 8-amp, Zero Recovery rectifier that is said to significantly increase power-supply efficiency in computer servers. The company claims by using the CSD08060 Schottky diode power supply manufacturers can cut power losses by at least 10 percent in a typical 1 kW server power supply.
Compared with traditional silicon-based diodes, the Cree SiC-based rectifiers are also said to simplify PFC boost design; eliminate the need for snubbers; reduce power losses; produce less electromagnetic interference (EMI) and offer faster switching speeds without reverse recovery currents. The device also enables streamlined circuit design resulting in smaller board size and component counts, and allows higher power density designs for compact power supplies in high-performance applications.
Availability: Available in production quantities.
