Carrollton, Tex. TT electronics OPTEK Technology has introduced a series of high-voltage optoisolators that provide both high-speed digital data transmission and high-voltage signal isolation. The OPI1268 optoisolators may be used for high-voltage isolation in PCB power systems, office machines, industrial equipment and medical equipment.
The OPI1268 series delivers a data transfer rate of 500 kbits/s with temperature, voltage and current compensation to ensure a stable digital output signal. The series provides AC and DC voltage isolation up to 16 kV between the input and output circuitry, while maintaining TTL signal integrity.
The high-voltage optoisolators consist of a high-efficiency 850 nm GaAlAs LED optically coupled to an integrated circuit that combines a photodiode that detects the incoming modulated light and converts it to a proportionate current. The current is fed into a linear amplifier that is temperature, current, and voltage compensated, resulting in a highly stable digital output signal with an open collector inverter configuration, said Optek.
The optoisolators' input diode features a typical forward voltage of 1.3 V (at IF = 20 mA), with a reverse current of 100 uA. The output IC features high-level output current of 120 uA (at IF = 0.9 mA, VOH = 18.0 V), low-level output voltage of 0.55 V (at IF = 10.0 mA, IOL = 8.0 mA), high-level supply current (ICCH) of 7 mA (at IF = 0 mA, VCC = 5.25V ), and low-level supply current (ICCL) of 0.5 mA (min.) and 10 mA (max.) (at IF = 10.0 mA, VCC = 5.25 V).
Propagation delay from low- to high-output level (tPLH) for the coupled device is 100 ns (max.), and from high- to low-output level (tPHL) is 200 ns (max.) with a LED positive going threshold current (IF+) of 0.9 mA (min.) to 10.0 mA (max.) (at VCC = 5V; IOL = 8.0 mA).
