San Jose, Calif. Avago Technologies has released the latest addition to its optocoupler family that targets the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) market. The automotive-grade ACPL-M46T is a 1 MBd intelligent power module (IPM) digital interface optocoupler that touts high reliability, high performance, ease of integration and excellent heat dissipation.
The ACPL-M46T requires a low input LED drive current (10 mA) that provides longer operating life and performance specified for automotive IPM applications over a wide temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. The optocoupler is qualified to meet automotive AEC-Q100 semiconductor stress test guidelines.
The ACPL-M46T also delivers a maximum propagation delay difference that enables a circuit designer to reduce switching dead time and improve inverter efficiency. In addition, the optocoupler offers a common mode rejection rate (CMR) of 15 kV per microsecond at VCM = 1500 V, which prevents erroneous driving of the IPM interface and ensures reliable operation under noisy operating environments.
The automotive-grade digital optocoupler is RoHS compliant and comes housed in a surface-mount, SO-5 package. The device comes with an enhanced LED (10 mA) for lower driving current and lower power consumption. This IPM optocoupler uses an enhanced wire bonding processes and an improved lead frame for added reliability and better heat dissipation.
