Eindhoven, Netherlands NXP has introduced the UBA2074, a high-voltage, full-bridge fluorescent backlight controller IC and a low-voltage counterpart, the UBA2072. These full-bridge fluorescent backlight controller ICs are aimed at larger display sizes and increased use of high-supply voltage backlight inverter solutions in LCD-TV applications.
NXP claims the UBA2074 is the industry's first true high-voltage full-bridge inverter controller IC. The device provides a full-bridge voltage up to 550 V, and integrates level shifters, bootstrap diodes and drivers. The UBA2074, with hard switching protection, targets 155-V to 400-V full-bridge, high-voltage backlight applications, while the UBA2074A, without hard switching protection, is used in 60-V full-bridge, medium-voltage backlight applications.
The UBA2072 is designed to operate over a wide low-voltage inverter supply, ranging from 9 V to 30 V, matching the requirements of larger LCD monitors, LIPS structures and 24-V supplied LCD-TV backlight inverters.
Pricing: Ranges from $ 0.65 each for the UBA2072 to $ 0.70 each for the UBA2074 in high volume.
